Just steps from the Cheoah River, minutes to the Dragon, and conveniently located on Highway 129, could it get any better? Check out O'Henry's Getaway for your next #YourNaturalDestination vacation!
From the owners:
"This cozy, rustic farmhouse is nestled on the banks of the scenic Cheoah River nine miles from Robbinsville, NC. It’s just a short nine mile drive to Deal’s Gap (the starting point of The Tail of the Dragon)
If you are looking for a getaway – O’Henry’s is for you. Enjoy your stay in this 100 year-old farmhouse located on 25 pristine privately-owned acres in the Smoky Mountains. The 1,038 square foot house is surrounded by undeveloped property on the banks of the Cheoah River. There is a massive wrap-around porch on the front, side and rear of the house where you can relax and sip your iced tea as you escape the troubles of a far away world.
There is a babbling stream adjacent to the house and a fire pit perfect for those mountain evenings.
The Cheoah River is a top location for kayaking. The output of the Santeetlah Dam is increased on 19 specific days in 2018 to create up to Class IV-V rapids. O’Henry’s is located at the top of the 9 mile kayak run ending at Tapoco Lodge. There is ample private parking behind the house. There is a two-car lockable garage – perfect for bikes or kayaking gear.
O’Henry’s is located ten minutes from Robbinsville, NC with restaurants, a pharmacy (Walgreens) and a major grocery store (Ingle’s). Nearby attractions include the majestic Joyce Kilmer National Forest, Cherokee Nation, Cherohala Skyway, Great Smoky Mountain National Park and many others. Satellite TV (DishNetwork) and WiFi available. Cell phone service is available in and near the house.
The farmhouse has been in the same family for generations and its current owners live in nearby Robbinsville. The owners personally provide the housekeeping services and are available to answer any questions.
We hope you choose O’Henry’s Getaway for your Smoky Mountain vacation.

Update from the Partners of the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness, Inc.
"We have received a little over 19 inches of rain here since the beginning of 2020 and the excess water has impacted the trails in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.
Unfortunately, part of the trail on the left side of the lower loop trail washed partially away! Here are some pictures where you can see the location of the washout, right after the first bridge crossing the Little Santeetlah Creek. That part of the trail has been closed until repairs can be made.
Thankfully, hikers can take the right lower loop to reach the upper loop where the biggest trees are located. Just remember to return the same way to the parking lot on the way back! We saw numerous hikers out there on Sunday and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time."
